This summer, I filed to run for re-election to the PAUSD school board. My board colleague Barb Mitchell was the only other candidate to file. Since the number of candidates equals the number of open seats, there will not be an election.
I have mixed emotions about this: While I certainly won’t miss fundraising, I was looking forward to connecting with the community and discussing school issues during the course of the campaign. As a result, I will seek other opportunities for dialogue about our district. A side benefit for our district is saving $125,000 in election fees.
It has been an honor to serve the school community and I am excited about continuing my service. We face greater financial uncertainty than ever, yet it is my goal to continuously improve the education we provide to each student, every day.
